TED tender alerts: how to track EU public procurement

Tenders Electronic Daily (TED) publishes thousands of public procurement notices from EU member states every week. The challenge is not finding tenders — it is finding the ones that match your country, capability and value range before the deadline. A good alert setup is the difference between missing opportunities and bidding selectively.

What TED covers

TED is the official journal of the EU for public procurement above certain thresholds. It includes contract notices, prior information notices, contract award notices and corrigenda. National below-threshold notices are not on TED; those sit on national portals.

How to set up TED alerts

Create a TED account. Registration is free and lets you save searches and subscribe to RSS feeds.

Build an advanced search. Filter by country, notice type, procedure, CPV code, contract value and publication date. Start narrow and expand only if you are not getting enough results.

Save the search. TED lets you save the query and generate an RSS feed. Add the feed to your feed reader or automation tool.

Set a daily review habit. Even the best alert returns noise. Spend ten minutes each morning triaging notices by deadline, eligibility and fit.

Filter by CPV code, not just keyword

CPV codes are language-neutral and more reliable than free text. A notice written in Polish or Portuguese still carries the same CPV code as one in English. Build your alert around the codes that describe your services, then add a value range and country filter.

Watch the deadlines

EU tenders often have shorter response windows than they first appear. Some require pre-qualification, electronic submission through a national portal, or documents translated into the buyer's language. The alert is only useful if it leaves you enough time to act.

Automate scoring and triage

Bidly runs a daily TED scan, extracts CPV codes, countries, values and deadlines, and scores each tender against your company profile. Instead of reading every notice, you get a ranked shortlist with an explainable fit score and a bid brief covering strengths, risks and required documents.

Always confirm deadlines, eligibility and submission instructions on the original TED notice before bidding.
